Our Story

Hi, we’re Adi and Geetan — a team in life and in hustle. With over a decade of hospitality experience between us (in kitchens from India to Melbourne), we’ve done everything from fine dining to frying pakoras.

Geetan is the sweet tooth — a trained pastry chef with roots in esteemed patisseries and fine dining restaurants in Melbourne. Before that, she studied design, but her love for food quickly took over. She’s always believed that sweets deserve the same love (and pedestal) as French pastry, so she began crafting them with new layers — fruity notes, nutty textures, indulgent finishes, and plenty of heart.

Adi is all about the savoury. With a background in luxury hotels and fine dining, he’s mildly obsessed with snacks — the kind you grew up reaching for, the kind you stash in your pantry, the kind that makes you say “just one more.” From crisp and spiced bites to nostalgic pantry staples, he’s on a mission to make snack time exciting again.

Our story began when Adi launched Kesar during Melbourne’s lockdowns, sharing homestyle meals with the community. From there came Urban Thela, our playful take on street snacks at local markets. That path led to Misht – Sweet Studio, where traditional mithai meets luxe flavours and modern finishes. And now, we’re building Munch Club — a fresh chapter in wholesome, high-energy snacking.

Together, these brands form Melbourne Canteen — where meals comfort, sweets indulge, and snacks keep you coming back.
